Open House represents a milestone moment!

Over 300 guests attended the "Thousands of Ideas, One Vision Open House" on June 24, 2008, held at the Civic Centre, Mississauga. The open house represented a milestone moment in the Our Future Mississauga project, as the public had an opportunity to see the results of their contributions to the conversation and to comment the draft framework of the Strategic Plan.

Showcased from the balcony in the great hall was the spectacular completed puzzle resulting from the puzzle piece campaign. Puzzle piece after puzzle piece, pieced together and each piece representing the ideas and hopes of our residents. The puzzle piece project generated a tremendous amount of feedback - over 6,737 ideas that were compiled into the draft strategic plan.

Contributing to the success of the open house was the youth sculptural pieces that were on display for the community to see how our youth envision the City of Mississauga in the 21st Century. A total of twenty-two sculptural pieces from, were selected from four participating Mississauga secondary schools; St. Marcellinus, Iona, Glenforest and Applewood Heights.

During the evening session, the youth were present to describe their inspiring sculptural artwork with the Mayor and members of the community. Students were congratulated by the Mayor and Members of Council with a certificate and small gift of appreciation.

Mr. Alghabra, MP, Mississauga-Erindale
