Candidate Profile

Qualifications

  • University degree in business administration or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience working with provincial policies and processes.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational and planning skills, analytical and decision making skills, to meet short and long term objectives.
  • Extensive security experience; working knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act and Public Works Protection Act Environmental and Occupational, Safety, Health & Risk Management policies and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of police practices, methods and enforcement strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral and listening).
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the team environment displaying initiative, responsibility, efficiency and enthusiasm to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Facilities & Property Management, the successful candidate will manage and administer the security operations for the City of Mississauga.

  • Provides leadership and direction to a professional team in Security Operations, Transit Enforcement and Security & Risk Management including: assignment, review and evaluation of work performance; hire, train and provide guidance and interpretation of corporate policies and procedures; address complaints/disputes and resolve problems.
  • Develop and deliver risk driven prevention, detection and response programs that will ensure all City staff, customers and assets are protected and that City services remain safe and reliable.
  • Lead the incident response to highly complex security incidents which affect staff, customers, assets or facilities, in order to limit loss and mitigate risk.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and measurement of departmental goals, and departmental engagement.
  • Proactively develop, maintain and manage critical relationships with various internal contacts and departments, in addition to various external stakeholders including the public, vendors/suppliers, law enforcement community, service providers and regulatory and government bodies in order to ensure compliance issues are understood and issues of concern are clarified and corrected.
  • Develop schedules and deadlines in response to department priorities and manage/lead projects within the department.
  • Participate significantly within large, cross-functional projects and as a member of the F&PM Management Team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
