Youth Friendly Communities is to acknowledge the great work that some communities are doing in ensuring their youth (ages 13 - 19) have continuous access to a diversity of 'play' (play being anything a young person does in his/her free time). Mississauga being a platinum leader with this initiative we strive to break down barriers and set the bar for other municipalities to follow.

Since 2009, the Mississauga Youth Plan has provided direction pertaining to recreation programs and services for the City of Mississauga. As part of Mississauga’s 2019 Future Directions for Recreations master planning process, the Youth Plan is being reviewed. The purpose of the Youth Plan Review is to reflect current characteristics of the youth market and provide direction relating to recreation programs and services. As we grow as a diverse community we hope to leverage from this finding to enhance our programing throughout the city.
