With over 200 species, the Maple is a staple in our communities. Several types yield edible syrup, and all Maple trees host two-winged seeds called "samaras". Lobed leaves hang opposite on the twig and come in a variety of forms of foliage.
Flower/Fruit
- Some Maples have long hanging greenish-white flowers.
- The Samaras hang throughout the tree and drop when mature.
Environment
Full sun for most of the day is ideal. Moist, sandy and well-drained soil is best for growth.
