Made up of 5 leaflets, these long oval leaves, tapered at each end, can be 15-25cm long. Green on top, a pale and hairy underside, are held on drooping branches. Changes to hues of light-green to golden yellow dependant of the seasons temperatures.

Flower/Fruit

The flowers are yellow/green hairy stems (catkins) or spikes early in the season. Also hosts fruits that are surrounded by a hard husk which splits open into four quarters when ripe to expose a brown nut.

Environment

Full sun for most of the day is ideal. Moist, sandy and well-drained soil is best for growth.
