A wide-spreading tree that is both excellent for visual appeal and providing shade. This tree has stiff, rough, deep green leaves in abundance which generally stay green until Fall (sometimes turning a light yellow shade). The oval leaves have an asymmetrical base, with double serrated edges with multiple prominent veins.
Flower/Fruit
- Cluster of light-green blossoms that occur early in the year.
- The flowers develop into small oval green fruits with tiny hairs.
Environment
Full sun for most of the day is ideal. Moist, sandy and well-drained soil is best for growth but prospers in most conditions. Known for being hearty through all seasons.
